Exercise Myths Part 1

Let's squash 5 of the common exercise & eating myths: 1️⃣ Not eating will help you lose weight - Although this seems logical, and you may very well lose weight in the short term, your body will go into 'self defence' mode as it believes you are going to die from starvation and hold onto ANYTHING (fluid, solids, anything!) that you feed it and you will regain the weight and more! Solution - Eat in moderation! 2️⃣ Lifting weights will make you muscly - Yes lifting weights will make you muscly - if you lift HEAVY weights. if you lift a moderate weight for moderate reps, your body shape will change, thinner waist, toned shoulders + arms, and toned legs. Lifting weights is not your enemy, it will help you build muscle which burns calories, which help you reach your goals! Solution - start lifting weights - safely! 3️⃣ The more you sweat, the more calories you burn - incorrect! Sweating is the body's response to overheating, when you get warm, you sweat - simple. Some people heat up more than others, some people regulate their temperature more than others. All you need to do is drink, drink, drink when you feel the slightest bead of sweat on your head! Solution - keep working even if you don't 'sweat' a whole lot, you are still working those muscles! 4️⃣ I can't workout unless i'm at the gym ‼ - with a bit of imagination and motivation, you can work anywhere, hotel room, garden, cardboard box, you name it! To get a good workout to keep you going you can intensify a bodyweight workout (stay tuned!) and use your environment to your advantage! Solution - stay tuned to the page for videos on how to workout wherever you are! 5️⃣Sit ups will give me a 6pack ⛔ - Sit ups - although work the ab muscles, will not give you that budging 6pack you may crave. Sit ups will, like any exercise make the muscle 'swell' with repeated use, but blasting the fat in your abdomen then working on your core (front, sides and back) will contribute to a flat stomach and strong core. Solution - don't do sit ups - they will put undue stress on your lower back and not help your abs
