#mission 2016 - sustaining your new routine
its the 13th Jan... by now you have had 10-11 days of 'going for it' and you feel good (or sore) for it!
You need to be careful and make sure that your new routine in a healthy lifestyle is sustainable.
a few tips:
1) don't do everything at once!
-- it can be really exciting to start a new nutrition plan, a new fitness plan and stop smoking and do this and do that... but sooner or later, something has to give!
Be smart, do one thing at a time and integrate it into your new routine the move onto the next thing and so on!
2) make sure you enjoy it!
-- There's nothing worse than forcing yourself to do something you hate... exercise, eating routines or any other intentions.
For fitness i would recommend you try out various classes or routines at least twice, then decide which one you like best and go to that
For eating, either get someone to design a plan to foods that you enjoy (me me!) and take out foods you don't like, that way you are more likely to continue eating it!
Other intentions, this is dependant on what it is, but if is for health reasons and you really don't want to do it, find out what the pros and cons of it are from a qualified professional so you fully understand what you are doing to your body
3) Understand its not all roses and butterflies.
-- Life is a funny thing, nothing goes to plan and if it does for you, I want your recipe! so be realistic when life throws you a curve ball that you may slip up and have a cupcake or not get that workout in... do not worry, keep focused and get back to it the next dayand continue wherey ou left off -- don't be so hard on yourself.
4) Something is better than nothing.
-- Progress is progress over the couch potato. if you aren't quite hitting your goals or plateuing, stagnating or even rebounding... DO NOT PANIC!
it may mean whatever it is you are doing isn't for you, or you need to try something different, mix it up and keep doing something, if you stop that is when you stop!
5) Have a reward day!
-- you've made some progress, YAY! your've hit your goal, YAY! its perfectly fine to have that ONE meal or ONE DAY where you loosen up a bit, as long as one doesn't turn into six! So reward yourself for the small victories and the big, this way you will keep focused and keep going!
